Once the Form DS-160 is finished, you must make an appointment with the US Embassy. You can do this online by visiting either ais.usvisa-info.com or ustraveldocs.com, depending on where in Asia you are applying from.
Obtain the Required Documents
Between booking the interview and the scheduled date of the appointment, you must compile the relevant paperwork for your O1 visa application. You must present your passport, the receipt for the visa fee, your work contract, the USCIS decision notification, documentation of your eminent expertise in your industry, etc.
The following papers must be gathered before you may apply for an O1 visa:
- A written opinion from a subject-matter expert in your area. Depending on your area of expertise, it can be a peer group or a labor/management organization.
- A copy of the written employment agreement. A summary of the arrangement under which you will be employed must be included in the contract.
- A description of the events and activities in which you will take part. It must outline the nature, beginning and ending times, and schedule of these activities and events.
- Proof of your exceptional talents or accomplishments. For instance, evidence that you have won an honor, published papers of relevance to your profession, produced original research that has contributed to your field, are a member of an elite association or organization or have been paid well for your abilities and contributions, etc.
You should also bring the following paperwork with you when you show up for your appointment and interview at the American Embassy:
- Your ID card. It needs to be valid when you apply and for six months after you plan to leave the country.
- The page confirming the DS-160 form.
- The letter confirming the interview
- A self-portrait that complies with the standards established by the US Department of State
- The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services’ I-797 Approval Notice.
- Poof that the Machine Readable Visa (MRC) cost has been paid.
Attending the interview
You must submit your paperwork on the day of your appointment and appear in person for a visa officer interview. They’ll quiz you about your credentials, how long you’ve worked in your industry, why you need to move to the US to advance your career, and other things of the such. One of the most crucial components of your visa application is the interview.
